In the Wake of Poseidon is the second studio album by British rock band King Crimson and was released in May 1970. At the time of its appearance, the band had already changed their occupation, in the Wake of Poseidon is the first album in the Court of the Crimson King but stylistically quite similar.

music

The music changes again and again between rather gentle, ballad-like passages or pieces and fast, energetic and complex ones of high intensity. The musical theme of Peace is dealt with in three parts (at the beginning, in the middle and at the end of the album) and thus forms a framework for the other pieces. The longest number, “The Devil's Triangle” , is based heavily on the first movement “Mars, the Warbringer” from the orchestral suite The Planets ” by the English composer Gustav Holst , which he composed from 1914 to 1916. King Crimson named the piece "Mars" on a live tour in 1969 , but the use of this title was prohibited by the composer's legal representatives. In 1971 a short excerpt from The Devil's Triangle was used on the BBC television series Doctor Who .
