Crispin Jeremy Rupert Blunt (born July 15, 1960 in Germany ) is a British politician of the Conservative Party .

Life

His parents were the British Major General Peter Blunt and Adrienne Blunt. Blunt grew up with two siblings. Blunt studied political science at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and Durham University and economics at the Cranfield University School of Management. From 1979 to 1990 he served as an officer in the British Army , most recently with the rank of captain . From May 6, 2010 to September 4, 2012, Blunt was Undersecretary of State for the Department of Prisons and Juvenile Justice.

Blunt has been a Member of the House of Commons since May 1, 1997 . Blunt was married to Victoria Jenkins from 1990 to 2010 and has two children with her. The couple divorced in 2010. His niece is the British actress Emily Blunt .
