Crossfire is an open source - computer role-playing game , which as a client-server application on the Internet or local network is played.

description

Crossfire is a relatively old multiplayer online role-playing game that includes aspects of Nethack , Ultima, and Gauntlet .

The graphics are comparatively primitive and are no longer considered to be up-to-date compared to modern game consoles. The attraction of Crossfire lies in the very large number of cards, artifacts and the ability system.

An excerpt (approx. 50%) of the current skills:

  • bowyer for the identification of missile weapons such as arrows, bows, bolts and crossbows
  • disarm traps to defuse traps
  • evocation for evoking spells, e.g. For cold or poison, but not electricity or fire
  • find traps for finding traps
  • levitation to float
  • literacy for reading books and scrolls
  • meditation for active regeneration
  • missile weapons for handling missile weapons
  • pyromancy for spells related to electricity and fire
  • sense curse to discover curses
  • sense magic to discover magical properties

The character traits are determined by the following numerical values: The primary attributes strength, dexterity, constitution, intelligence, wisdom, magical power, charisma, the secondary attributes weapon class, damage, armor class, armor, movement speed, speed of action and food as well as the degree of protection or sensitivity to various forms of attack such as fire , Cold or deprivation of life force.

Crossfire has a semi-isometric view. The playing field is shown from a bird's eye view directly from above, but the objects have a three-dimensional appearance, as if one were not looking at them directly from above, but at an angle.

Games based on Crossfire

Formerly known as Crossfire TRT , it is a further development of Crossfire with a focus on server stability and improving the graphical user interface.

Daimonin

For a while, a version of Crossfire with an isometric view , called Iso-Crossfire, was worked on. At first the development of Iso-Crossfire was delayed considerably. Later the idea was completely discarded within Crossfire. Instead, the game Daimonin was developed on the basis of the Crossfire program code. Daimonin has isometric graphics.

Angelion

Angelion is based on Daimonin and therefore also on Crossfire. Angelion differs from Daimonin in that it is map-stacking , which enables multi-level maps, and in that maps are not edited offline with a separate editor program, but online via the client during the game.
