Crossharbour Station

Crossharbour is a Docklands Light Railway (DLR) station in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets . It is in the Travelcard tariff zone 2 on the Isle of Dogs , on East Ferry Road in the Cubitt Town district .

The London Arena sports and events hall was located in the vicinity and was demolished in June 2006 due to insufficient occupancy. A housing estate was built on the site, which is why the station, previously known as Crossharbour & London Arena , was renamed Crossharbour . To the south of the station, between the two main tracks, there is a siding on which trains turn around according to the schedule.

The station was opened on August 31, 1987, together with the DLR basic network. Once near the neighboring station on 9 February 1996 South Quay , a car bomb the IRA had exploded, the entire route had south of Heron Quays be blocked. A few weeks later, on April 16, operations could be resumed.

During the heyday of Docklands , the Millwall Docks station of the Millwall Extension Railway was almost at the same location . This railway line was in operation from December 18, 1871 to May 4, 1926 and opened up the port facilities at the southern end of the Isle of Dogs. The station was demolished in January 1930.
