Crown Resorts is an Australian company headquartered in Melbourne that operates casinos and hotels . The company has been listed on the Australian Securities Exchange and on the S & P / ASX 200 stock index since December 3, 2007 . The company was also part of the S & P / ASX 50 . Crown Limited took over the position of the former parent company Publishing and Broadcasting Limited . In the 2012/2013 financial year, the group had sales of AUD 2.894 billion ( EUR 1.785 billion ) with a net profit of AUD 395.8 million.
The company was created in November 2007 by a spin-off of the then parent company Publishing and Broadcasting Limited, which subsequently renamed itself to Consolidated Media Holdings . This was preceded by the announcement in May 2007 that the company would be split into Crown Limited and Consolidated Media Holdings. The split was decided by the shareholders in November 2007 and became effective at the end of the same month.
