Detail of the “Monument to the Republic”.

The eleven meter high monument shows, among others, the founder of the Turkish Republic Mustafa Kemal Ataturk , the first Prime Minister İsmet İnönü and the Chief of Staff Fevzi Çakmak . On the south-facing side, Ataturk is depicted as a statesman in Western European clothing, while the north-facing side shows him as a military person. Among the people depicted are allegedly two high-ranking Soviet officers, Marshal Kliment Voroshilov and General Mikhail Frunze , who are supposed to commemorate Lenin's military support in the Turkish war of liberation .

Official ceremonies are held at the Monument of the Republic on national holidays.
