Radikal was a Turkish daily newspaper published in Istanbul . It belonged to Doğan Yayın Holding and, according to Eurotopics, had a liberal orientation. In August 2011 it had a circulation of over 62,000 copies and was ranked 18th in the Turkish daily press.

history

Radikal received international attention because of many contributions by well-known intellectuals and writers. Bülent Mumay was one of the longstanding editors . As a columnist, she offered a forum for Altan Öymen , Orhan Kemal Cengiz , Perihan Mağden and Sırrı Süreyya Önder, among others .

The newspaper was only available online as of June 21, 2014 and was no longer printed. On April 6, 2016, the online edition also ceased to appear for financial reasons (a press agency subordinate to the deputy head of government distributes the advertising revenue, which is of vital importance for the financing of the newspapers). This means that an important platform for critical reporting and comments in Turkey is disappearing.
