Bulent Mumay

Bülent Mumay (born July 5, 1977 in Siirt ) is a Turkish journalist .

He was the editor of the left-liberal Turkish daily Radikal , which was later discontinued, and headed the online editorial team of Hürriyet . In October 2015 he was released under pressure from the Turkish government. After the attempted coup in summer 2016 , he was arrested on suspicion of membership in the Gülen organization , but released after five days in police custody.

Mumay has been writing columns for the left-wing Turkish daily BirGün since August 2016 . In German-speaking countries he is known for his "Letters from Istanbul", which appear in the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung .
