List of Turkish newspapers
Daily newspapers
National daily newspapers
Almost all national newspapers are produced in Istanbul . The only exceptions were the Zaman (1986-2016), which was initially produced in Ankara , and the Kurdish- language newspaper Azadiya Welat (2006-2016), whose headquarters were in Diyarbakır . In addition, the newspaper Yeni Asır , the largest regional newspaper in the country, produced for the Aegean region in İzmir , achieved a certain national importance. The Anayurt newspaper, produced in Ankara, has more of the character of a regional newspaper for Central Anatolia.
The table is structured as follows:
- Circulation: Average sold circulation in the week from June 25 to July 1, 2018
- Owner: Owner of the newspaper publisher. If this is unclear, then the name of the newspaper publisher.
- First edition: This is based on the date since the sheet in question appeared continuously as a daily newspaper. Longer breaks in publication that were not caused by third-party negligence (for example, a military coup) are not taken into account, as are forerunners with other forms of publication (for example, first a weekly newspaper, later converted into a daily newspaper) or ideal references to historical newspapers of the same title. Such cases are indicated in the notes.
- Type / party affiliation / political orientation: The type and political orientation of some newspapers have changed considerably, in some even several times - be it through a change of ownership such as with Sabah or through internal processes of change such as with Cumhuriyet . Such historical developments are not taken into account here.
