Millî Gazete (also Milli Gazete ) ( National Newspaper ) is an internationally distributed Turkish daily newspaper with the editorial office in Istanbul .

history

The first editor-in-chief was Oğuzhan Asiltürk, then a member of the National Salvation Party (MSP) of Necmettin Erbakan , the founder and leader of the Islamist Millî Görüş movement . Formally never owned by the respective party, Millî Gazete survived the ban on the MSP in 1980 as well as the ban on its successors, the Welfare Party in 1998 and the Virtue Party in 2001. When the renewal faction around Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Abdullah Gül from the Millî- Görüş movement split off and founded the Justice and Recovery Party (AKP), the newspaper remained under the control of the traditionalists who subsequently rallied in the Party of Happiness (SP). Standing Milli Gazete close to this day.

Germany edition

The editorial office for the German edition (in Turkish, circulation approx. 3,000) is located in Mörfelden-Walldorf near Darmstadt . The newspaper reports extensively on the club life of the Millî Görüş and is thus part of the Milli Görüş movement. A former chairman of the IGMG , Osman Yumakoğulları, later became the managing director of Milli Gazete. The chairman of the IGMG until 2003, Mehmet Sabri Erbakan , is a nephew of the former Turkish Prime Minister Necmettin Erbakan . However, the IGMG never made a decision between the SP and the AKP; The IGMG general secretary Mustafa Yeneroğu was elected to the Turkish parliament for the AKP in the 2015 parliamentary elections.

Political orientation

The newspaper has repeatedly attracted attention for its anti-Western, anti-Semitic and anti-democratic statements. The German edition is therefore monitored by the protection of the constitution . Quotes:

“The European is an atheist and idol worshiper, a usurer, capitalist, socialist, Zionist, communist and imperialist, constantly ardent and drunk, adulterous and materialistic. He's committed to the devil. "

- Millî Gazete, July 24, 1986

The attitude of the newspaper to Sharia , Jihad , America and Iran is clear from the following quotes:

“It is illogical, contradicting and nonsensical when a person claims that he is a Muslim but against Sharia law. [...] Sharia is a sacred term. Islam and Sharia are synonymous. "

- Millî Gazete, October 16, 2006

On March 28, 2006, Milli Gazete praised Iran's "courageous foreign policy":

“God's command requires the entire Islamic world to adopt this policy. This is a divine call from our Lord to all Muslim leaders who believe in God and the Koran. It is a call to deter and deter the enemies of religion from attacking the Muslims and occupying their homeland. [...] If the attackers are infidels and the attacked Muslims, jihad is a religious duty for all Muslims. "

- Millî Gazete, March 28, 2006

In the same article, the United States is characterized as "bloodthirsty", "blood-drinking", "spitting blood", "terrorist", "incredulous" and "murderous". The USA had done Afghanistan and Iraq first, now turned to Iran and Syria and then wanted to take Turkey as the “last bite”. In this way, the entire world becomes a colony of the terrorist states of the USA and Israel.

The newspaper's authors also advocate the death penalty for apostating from Islam . A well-known columnist for the newspaper is Mehmet Şevket Eygi .

The Milli Gazete considers the Freemasons and the Templars to be the "organizers of evil on earth".

anti-Semitism

Examples of anti-Semitism

“It's nothing but theater when they are portrayed as innocent victims who only earned money and who were innocently burned in Hitler's ovens. They were oppressed and suffered. That's right. But when you look at the reasons for this, it is by no means an exaggeration to say that they have suffered too little. "

“There are two kinds of people in our country. On the visible side, they look like Muslims and Turks. On the back of the medal it's Jews. They bring their own incompetent people into the most important offices and positions and take possession of Turkey's income ... Damn them. "

- Milli Gazete , 25./26. May 2002

“We are obliged to teach them (the children) the religion of God. Dozens of perverse institutions, especially Jewish and Christian committees, are just waiting for an opportunity to steal our children from us. Let's not throw our children to those confused monsters to eat! "

- Milli Gazete , date unknown, quoted after a reply by the IGMG to the German Press Agency in 2004

On August 22, 2006, the Milli Gazete declared under the headline “Did Hitler burn the Jews?” That the number of six million Jews was a lie. She also questioned the existence of gas chambers and declared: "No order was given to exterminate the Jews."

In the Millî Gazete from 5./6. August 2006 it is claimed that Jews resp. Zionists are ultimately responsible for the majority of international conflicts. From a historical perspective, this applies to the outbreak of the First and Second World Wars and the smashing of the Ottoman Empire by the then great powers Great Britain and France.

“Why was the First World War started and by whom? From the Zionist Jews. Why was the First World War started? So that the greatest obstacle to Israel, the Ottoman Empire, will be eliminated. Why was the Second World War started? So that Israel is founded and the Jews can emigrate there. "

- Milli Gazete, 5./6. August 2006

In the November 20, 2003 print edition, the CIA and Mossad are held responsible for the September 11th terrorist attacks :

“Because 'Islamist terror' is a (...) joint product of America and Israel. [...] Every time you scratch something on the surface of the terrorist attack, the words 'Made in Pentagon' or 'Made in Mossad' grin at us. "

- Milli Gazette , quoted by the Office for the Protection of the Constitution

Furthermore, it is the secret plan of the Jews to convert the Turks and Kurds to Christianity [sic].

In the print edition of December 15 and 16, 2006, Jews and Zionists are accused of having brought Hitler to power himself - with the aim of founding the State of Israel in historic Palestine.

Individual authors clearly oppose any dialogue with Christians and Jews. It would only try to convey thoughts that lead to disbelief.
