The Communist Party ( Turkish Komünist Parti , abbreviation KP ) was a Marxist - Leninist party in Turkey . The party took over from its predecessor as a member of the European Initiative of Communist and Workers 'Parties in Europe and at the International Meeting of Communist and Workers' Parties . The party was led by Kemal Okuyan and Aydemir Guler . Your party newspaper was the newspaper soL .

The Communist Party came into being on July 17, 2014 after the mutual split of the Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) from July 13 to 15, 2014. The second split alongside the Communist Party is the Communist People's Party (HTKP).

On January 22, 2017, at a meeting in Istanbul, the party's members reactivated their 2001 predecessor organization by adopting the name of the Communist Party of Turkey (with the addition of "Turkey"). There were also representatives of the Communist Party of Greece and the Cuban government.
