Ortadoğu ( German  "Middle East" ) is a Turkish daily newspaper that appeared for the first time on May 3, 1972.

The newspaper was founded by Zeki Saraçoğlu (1936-2006), a companion of Alparslan Türkeş , as his adjutant he had participated in the military coup of May 1960 . After Türkeş became head of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), he commissioned Saraçoğlu to found a newspaper. A well-known contributor to the newspaper was Rabia Kazan .

Ortadoğu has been the MHP's party newspaper since it was founded , but formally never belonged to it. However, the circulation and reach of Ortadoğu fell short of the daily Hergün (Every Day) , which was also published by Saraçoğlu in 1974 and banned after the military coup in 1980 . Ortadoğu follows a nationalist , Islamic and pan-Turkish line and is committed to the ideology of the Ülkücü movement .

Since the death of its founder, the newspaper has been published by his wife Belkıs Saraçoğlu. The office of editor-in-chief is currently (as of January 2017) vacant; in the imprint Meryem Bozdağı is listed as the "editor-in-chief".
