Around 15,000 copies of the newspaper were sold in the 1920s. It was founded by the Andonis and Konstandinos Vasiliadis brothers who attended Galatasaray High School. In the early years of the republic under the state's founder Mustafa Kemal Ataturk , the newspaper still had circulation of 35,000 to 40,000. After a lull at the beginning of the 21st century, while only 80 daily copies were printed, the support is 2017 now 600 copies, mainly engaged in the Istanbul districts with smaller Greek minorities, including Beyoğlu , Fener and Balat , in counter sales were sold .

The newspaper was closed in 2014 by a law of the AKP government by Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, as the press agency, which was subordinate to the Deputy Prime Minister, withdrew from the distribution program without prior notice for the distribution of advertising income, which is of vital importance to the newspapers. However, it is still being relocated.
