Penguen (Eng .: Penguin ) is a weekly Turkish satirical magazine with an editorial office in Istanbul . It was founded in 2002 by former employees of the satirical magazine LeMan .

The magazine was repeatedly sued by the AKP government for its snappy cartoons , but was often acquitted. In 2011 , the illustrator Bahadir Baruter was sentenced to one year in prison. The reason for this was a cartoon in which the message "There is no Allah, religions are lies". The prison sentence was revised in a higher court and he was acquitted. Together with his colleague Özer Aydogan, Baruter was again fined for a caricature that allegedly contained a hidden insulting message to Erdoğan .

During the protests in Turkey in 2013 , based on a graffito by Banksy , the magazine used a hooded penguin throwing a flower as its logo.
