The TCM Private University Li Shi Zhen was an Austrian private university based in Vienna .

history

On September 12, 2003, the private university was the first European university teaching and research facility for traditional Chinese medicine to be accredited as a private university by the Austrian Accreditation Council . The rector of the university was Andreas Bayer; Dean was Liang Zhi.

The naming found its origin in:

  • TCM is derived from T raditioneller C hinese M edicine
  • Li Shi Zhen (李时珍 / 李時珍) (1518–1593), a Chinese medic and scholar of the Ming Dynasty . He wrote the work Pen ts'ao kang mu (本草纲目 / 本草綱目) (German: The book of healing herbs ).

On August 10, 2009, the accreditation as a private university expired because no application for an extension of the accreditation was submitted. All students were able to complete their studies at the end of June 2009, so all training obligations of the TCM Private University have been fulfilled.

The TCM Private University Li Shi Zhen trained therapists and prospective doctors as well as graduates of six semesters of study in human medicine in the various techniques of TCM in four diploma courses, three bachelor's and four master's courses. Headquarters was Vienna, branch campuses were set up in Barcelona , Amposta , Valencia , Madrid , Munich and Berlin .

The university offered the following bachelor's / master's degree programs :

  • TCM (6 semesters Bachelor, + 2 semesters Master, +4 semesters TCM)
  • Acupuncture (6 semesters Bachelor, + 2 semesters Master)
  • Chin. Pharmacology (6 semesters Bachelor, + 2 semesters Master)
  • Tuina (6 semesters Bachelor, + 2 semesters Master)

The university offered four university courses with a diploma .

  • Methodology in Traditional Chinese Medicine (2 semesters)
  • Obstetrics (3 semesters)
  • Gynecology (3 semesters)
  • Tuina - Chinese massage (4 semesters)

The following training courses are offered via an affiliated TCM academy :

  • Chinese nutritional advice according to TCM
  • Medical Qi Gong according to TCM
  • Tunia Chin. TCM massage
  • Chinese herbal medicine according to TCM

Admission conditions were Matura or university entrance exam as well as appropriate depending on the field of study university inputs and degrees.
