Curche

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Curche is a fertility god in the Prussian religion .

The god is mentioned for the first time in the Christburg Peace Treaty from 1249:

"The idol which they form once a year from collected crops and worshiped as a god, to whom they assigned the name Curche."

According to Simon Grunau , Curche is the god of food and drink. The name could not yet be etymologized satisfactorily.

Alongside Natrimpe , Patollos and Parkuns , the god of thunder , he is one of the few Prussian deities recognized by science as genuinely recognized .
