Curved Air is a British progressive rock band from the late 1960s and 1970s.

history

Curved Air was founded in 1969 by Sonja Kristina ( vocals ), Florian Pilkington-Miksa ( drums ), Rob Martin ( electric bass ), Francis Monkman ( keyboard , guitar ), Darryl Way (electric violin , vocals). The group emerged from the band Sisyphus and named itself after the piece A Rainbow in Curved Air by the contemporary composer Terry Riley .

The line-up was subject to frequent changes; the band at times included Eddie Jobson (later Roxy Music , Frank Zappa and Jethro Tull ), Stewart Copeland (later Police ) and Tony Reeves (ex- Greenslade , Colosseum , John Mayall ). Only Sonja Kristina stayed with us throughout. Monkman, a member of the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields , later played with John Williams on Sky , among others .

The musicians had very different backgrounds, from classical to folk to electronic sound, which resulted in a corresponding mixture of progressive rock, folk rock and fusion with classical elements.

In 1976 the group recorded their last studio album. Every now and then there were concerts of the band. An appearance from 1990 was released as a live album in 2000.

In 2008 the reunification took place, in 2010 the album Reborn was released with two new titles.
