An axial cut (English: cut in ) is a film section with change to a smaller picture, taken from the same position. The term cut out is used on the contrary .

This technique of graduated zooming is often used when jumping from a half- close shot to a close-up of a person. Do not leave the axis on which the camera with the filmed object is standing. For example, it is not a cut in or cut out if the first shot is filmed from the right and the second shot from the left of an object.
