In April 2016, Cybereason formed a joint venture with SoftBank and Cybereason Japan Corp, based in Tokyo , Japan . and a subsidiary in Great Britain in August 2016 .

In December 2016, Cybereason released a free ransomware prevention software product called RansomFree. RansomFree was downloaded by over 500,000 users before it was discontinued in November 2018.

In May 2017, Cybereason researchers discovered a large-scale, advanced, and persistent threat in Asia called Operation Cobalt Kitty.
