Cyrus Lakdawala

Cyrus Lakdawala (born  October 10, 1960 in Bombay ) is an American chess player , teacher and writer. He was born in India but grew up in Montreal and has lived in San Diego since the late 1970s . He obtained the title of FIDE Master in 1986 and has been an International Master since 2002 .

His tournament successes include winning in 1987 together with four other players at the National Open and in 1998 at the American Open together with Pavel Blatný . In addition, he shared first place at the Lina Grumette Memorial Day Classic twice, in 1998 with two other players and in 1999 with Sergey Kudrin . He also won the Southern California Chess Federation championship in 1994, 1997, 1998, 2000 and 2005 .

Cyrus Lakdawala has authored more than 20 chess books , making him one of the most active chess authors of our time. His work includes in particular works on various openings as well as annotated collections of games by well-known chess players. Most of his books, some of which have also been translated into German and Spanish , were published in the Move by Move series of the English publisher Everyman Chess .
