Pavel Blatný (chess player)
Pavel Blatný (born June 22, 1968 in Brno ) is a Czech chess grandmaster .
Blatný comes from a chess family. His father František Blatný (1933-2015) was an International Arbiter (International Arbiter) and FIDE champion , who at the Chess Olympiads 1962 and 1964 (he was also nominated for the Chess Olympiad 1970 , but remained without commitment) and the European Team Championships 1957 and 1970 played for the Czechoslovak national team and its best historical rating for January 1965 was calculated to be 2532.
Chess successes
Pavel Blatný received the grandmaster title in 1993 . Pavel Blatný was very successful at the championship of Czechoslovakia, he won twice, in 1988 and 1990, he was also able to win the championship of the Czech Republic twice, in 1997 and 2000. Pavel Blatný already attracted attention as a junior, he was at the U-20 Junior World Championship 1985 runner-up, twice he was tied for third at the Junior European Championships in Groningen , 1985/1986 and 1986/1987.
Pavel Blatný won or occupied top places in many tournaments: I-II. Place in Trnava (1987), I-II. Place in Lenk (1991), I-II. 1st place in Kecskemét (1991), 1st place in Brno (1992) and again 1st place in Brno (1993), 1st place at the New York open in New York (1995), I-VI. Place at the Foxwoods Open in Ledyard (2003), 1st place in Oklahoma (2004) and 1st place in Litomyšl (2005).
In January 2016 his Elo number is 2390. In October 2000 he reached his highest Elo number of 2589.
Team chess
National team
Blatný took from 1988 to 2000 three times with the Czechoslovak and four times with the Czech national team in the Chess Olympiad , where he scored 24 points from 51 games. Between 1989 and 1997 he played three times in the European team championships .

In the Czech extra league, Blatný played for ŠK Dům armády Prague from 1993 to 1995 , for ŠK DP Mladí Prague from 1996 to 2000 , for ŠK Hagemann Opava from 2000 to 2007 , with whom he was champion in 2002 and 2004 , and for TJ from 2010 to 2015 Tatran Litovel , in the 2015/16 season for ŠK Duras BVK and in the 2017/18 season for Moravská Slavia Brno . Poker game
Blatný is also active as a poker player who is quoted as It's definitely all poker for me now . On the Czech All Time Money List he temporarily took fifth place, but with 59,966 dollars he slipped to 171th place (as of June 2018).
