Robert Cvek

Robert Cvek (born January 6, 1979 in Krnov ) is a Czech chess player .

Life

In 1993 he was Czech U14 champion, at the U14 European Championship in the same year he was shared second. In 1994 he was Czech U16 champion and shared third place at the 1996 U18 European Championship. He was Czech U20 champion in 1999. In 2009 he won the Metalmex Open in Liberec with 8.5 points from 9 games and two points ahead.

He received the grandmaster title in January 2007. He achieved the norms in July 2004 in the A group of the Skanska Open in Pardubice , in September 2005 at the Trade Fair Festival in Brno and in September 2006 at the Mitropapokal in Brno.

His Elo rating is 2512 (as of February 2019), which puts him in 14th place in the Czech Elo ranking. Cvek's highest rating to date was 2563 in May 2012.

Team chess

National team

With the Czech national team he took part in five Mitropa Cups (1999, 2000, 2002, 2006 and 2012). He was most successful at the Mitropa Cup 2006 in Brno, where he took second place on the first board with the team and received an individual gold medal for his result of 6 points from 9 games. He also played for the Czech national team at the 2006 Chess Olympiad , on the second reserve board and on the first reserve board at the 2009 European Team Championship.

In the Slovak Extraliga he played for TJ INBEST Dunajov from 2008 to 2011 , from 2014 to 2016 and again since 2019 for Liptovská šachová škola and from 2016 to 2019 for ŠK Osuské . In 2017 he played for KSz Silesia JAS-FBG Racibórz in the Polish Ekstraliga .
