The Extraliga 1997/98 was the sixth season of the Czech Extraliga in chess .

Participating teams

For the Extraliga, ŠK Dům armády Prague , A64 MILO Olomouc , ŠK DP Mladí Prague , ŠK Zlín , Sokol Kolín , ŠK Pardubice , SK ZČE Plzeň , ŠK H. Fuchs Ostrava , Bohemians Prague and ŠK Sokol Vyšehrad were the top ten of the season Qualified in 1996/97 , the second team of the ŠK Vyšehrad as the winner of the 1st česká liga 1996/97 and TJ Nová Huť Ostrava as the winner of the 1st moravskoslezská liga 1996/97 rose.

The twelve teams played a simple round-robin tournament , first the team points (2 points for a win, 1 point for a draw, 0 points for a defeat) decided on the placements, then the board points (1 point for a win, 0.5 points for a draw, 0 points for a loss).

Game dates

The competitions took place on November 15 and 16, December 13 and 14, 1997, January 17, February 7 and 8, March 7 and 8 and April 4 and 5, 1998.

Season course

For the title, A64 MILO Olomouc , the defending champion ŠK Dům armády Prague and TJ Nová Huť Ostrava fought a three-way battle that was only decided in the last round for Olomouc, who defeated their direct rivals from Ostrava. The second team of the ŠK Vyšehrad was determined prematurely as relegated, while the decision on the second relegation place was made in the last round against the ŠK Dynamo ZČE Plzeň .
