Tomáš Oral
Tomáš Oral (born December 24, 1977 in Olomouc ) is a Czech chess player .
Career
Oral received the grandmaster title in 1999 . Playing for the Czech national team, he took part in four Chess Olympiads ( 1998 , 2000 , 2002 and 2004 ) and two European team championships (1999 and 2001). At the European team championship in 1999 in Batumi , he reached the third-best individual result on the fourth board.
In 1991 he won the first European youth championship in Mamaia in the U14 age group. He won or occupied top places in several tournaments: I.-II. Place in Litomyšl (1995), I.-II. Place in Šaľa (1995), I. place in Hengelo (1996), I. place in Prievidza (1997), I.-II. Place in Komárno (1997), I.-II. Place in Olomouc (1998), I.-II. Place in Selfoss (2003), I. Place in Ortigueira (2005), I.-III. Place in Madrid (2006) and I.-II. Place in Gausdal (2007). Oral said in an interview in 2006 that his biggest success was winning two games against top 10 players at Rapid Edda 2003 in Reykjavík .
In the Czech Extraliga Oral played from 1992 to 2000 for the Lokomotiva Olomouc team , where he had previously played in the Czechoslovak team championship. Oral won the Czech team championship with Olomouc in 1998 and took part in the European Club Cup in 1996 . He then played from 2000 to 2006 for ŠK Lokomotiva Brno (until 2004 ŠK Hagemann Opava ), with whom he was Czech team champion in 2002 and 2004 , in the 2006/07 season for TJ TŽ Třinec , in the 2007/08 season for TJ Tatran Litovel , from 2008 to 2010 for ŠK Mahrla Prague , with whom he was champion in 2009 , since 2010 he has played for the team from Výstaviště Lysá nad Labem , with whom he became Czech team champion in 2019 . In the German 1st Bundesliga he played for the Stuttgarter Schachfreunde 1879 in the 2004/05 season and for ESV Nickelhütte Aue in the 2010/11 season . In the Slovak Extraliga he played from 1994 to 1999 for the ŠK Trenčín and in the 2000/01 season for the ŠK Bestex Nové Zámky , with which he also took part in the European Club Cup in 2001.
Oral played at a simultaneous event Garri Kasparov against the Czech national team in 2001 in Prague and was the only one to beat the ex-world champion. His Elo rating is 2509 (as of September 2018), which puts him in 13th place in the Czech Republic's Elo ranking; his highest rating to date was 2565 from July to December 2004.
