Extraliga (Czech Republic, chess) 2008/09
The Extraliga 2008/09 was the 17th season of the Czech Extraliga in chess .
Participating teams
For the Extraliga had with the first Novoborský ŠK , ŠK Mahrla Prague , BSS Frydek-Mistek , RC Sport Pardubice , A64 Valoz Grygov , TJ Slávie Turnov , ŠK Zlín , ŠK Labortech-Geofin Ostrava , TJ Bohemians Prague and TJ TŽ Třinec the ten first placed of the 2007/08 season qualified, in addition SPACE Poštovní spořitelna were promoted as winners of the 1st league západ 2007/08 and the second team of TJ TŽ Třinec as winners of the 1st league východ 2007/08.

mode
The twelve teams played a simple round-robin tournament , first of all the team points (3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw, 0 points for a defeat) decided the placements, then the board points (1 point for a win, 0.5 points for a draw, 0 points for a loss).
Game dates
The competitions took place on November 8 and 9, December 6 and 7, 2008, January 10, February 7, 8, 21 and 22, and March 21 and 22, 2009.
Season course
The ŠK Mahrla Prague and the 1. Novoborský ŠK fought a duel for the title, which the Prague won in the last lap with a direct comparison victory. TJ TŽ Třinec's second team was already relegated two rounds before the end, and SPACE Poštovní spořitelna also had little theoretical chances of relegation at this point.
