Extraliga (Czech Republic, chess) 2019/20

The 2019/20 Extraliga was the 28th season of the Czech Extraliga in chess . Due to the COVID-19 pandemic , the competition was canceled after six of eleven rounds. The championship title was not awarded, and no team had to relegate to the first division.

Participating teams

Výstaviště Lysá nad Labem , GASCO Pardubice , 1. Novoborský ŠK , ŠK Zikuda Turnov , BŠS Frýdek-Místek , ŠK Duras BVK , Siesta Solution Unichess , ŠK Slavoj Poruba , Moravská Slavia Ostrava Brno and ŠK Labort first place for the Extraliga the season 2018/19 qualified also were out of the first league západ 2018/19 ŠK Dopravní podnik Praha and from the first league východ 2018/19 Slavia Kroměříž ascended.

mode

The twelve teams were supposed to play a simple round-robin tournament.The team points (3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw, 0 points for a defeat) would first have decided on the placements, then the board points (1 point for a win, 0.5 Points for a draw, 0 points for a loss).

Game dates

The competitions of the first six rounds took place on October 12th and 13th, November 30th and December 1st, 2019, as well as on January 25th and 26th, 2020. The last five rounds should take place on March 28th and 29th and from March 17th . until April 19, 2020, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, gaming operations have been suspended from March 12, 2020 until further notice. Initially, it was planned that the canceled rounds would be made up on June 27 and 28 and July 10 to 12, 2020, but the season was canceled later.
