Eduard Meduna

Eduard Meduna (born September 11, 1950 in Prague ) is a Czech chess master . Meduna received the grandmaster title in 1987 . His Elo number is 2377 (as of October 2019), in January 1987 he reached his highest Elo number of 2515.

Meduna often took part in the championships of Czechoslovakia, later the Czech Republic. He won twice: in 1987 and 2001.

Meduna won or occupied top places in many tournaments: 1st place in Harrachov (1970), I.-III. Place in Děčín (1976), I. Place in Varna (1980), I. Place in Leipzig (1981), I. Place in Breslau (1981), I.-II. Place in Biel (Open) (1981), 2nd place in Trnava (1982), 2nd place in Trnava (1982), II.-III. Place in Starý Smokovec (1982), 1st place at the Bad Wörishofen Chess Festival (1987), 1st place in Debrecen (1987), 1st place in Prague (1988), 1st place in Schwäbisch Gmünd , II.-IV. Place in Lázně Bohdaneč (1994), II. Place in Děčín (1995), I.-II. Place in Děčín (1996), I.-II. Place in Prague (2002), I.-IV. Place at the T-Systems-Open in Prague (2005), I.-II. Place at the Visus Open in Prague (2005) and I.-II. Place at the Abner Open in Prague (2007). In 2013 he was the winner of the Budvar Cup.

He played in 1992 for the Czechoslovakian and 1994 for the Czech national team at the Chess Olympiad . He played three times (1997, 1989 and 2001) at the European Team Championships .

Chess clubs

In the Czech Extraliga Meduna played from 1993 to 1995 for TJ Dopravní podniky Tarok Prague , in the 1995/96 season for the ŠK Mladí Prague from 1996 to 2000 and again from 2001 to 2006 for the ŠK Sokol Vyšehrad , in the 2000 season / 01 for the ŠK Hagemann Opava , from 2006 to 2009 for the ŠK Mahrla Prague , with whom he became champion in 2009 , since 2012 he has been playing for the team of Výstaviště Lysá nad Labem , with whom he became the Czech team champion in 2019 . In the top German league, the German Chess League, he played in the 1989/90 season on the first board of SV Fortuna Regensburg ; in Germany Meduna was also active for the second team of SG Porz . In the Slovakian Extraliga he played in the 1992/93 season for champions ELAI Bratislava , in the 1994/95 season for the ŠK Slovan Bratislava , with which he already participated in the European Club Cup in 1994, and from 2002 to 2004 for the ŠK HOFFER Komárno , with whom he became Slovak team champion in 2003 .
