Viktor Láznička (born January 9, 1988 in Pardubice ) is a Czech chess grandmaster .

Career

Láznička began playing chess at the age of six and intensified his chess training after taking 3rd place in the Czech U12 competition in 2000. Two years later he won the U14 championship in Frymburk . His coaches were Kamil Munia, Petr Šebesta, Vigen Mirumian and Michal Konopka . His current trainer is Sergej Movsesjan , his team-mate at ŠK Rapid Pardubice . Láznička is studying business administration at the Charles University in Prague .

Láznička won bronze at the European U18 Championship in 2005 in Herceg Novi . In 2006 he won the Czech championship by two points, making him the youngest national champion. At the same time, by fulfilling the third norm, he achieved the title of Grand Master. In April 2007 Láznička reached 14th place at the European Championships in Dresden , so he qualified for the FIDE World Cup in Khanty-Mansiysk in November 2007. At the 2007 World Chess Cup , he failed in the first round to Bartłomiej Macieja . In April 2008 he won the Calcutta Open after ranking before K. Sasikiran . In July 2010 he won the World Open in Philadelphia with 7.5 points from 9 games. At the Chess World Cup in 2009 he reached the round of 16 with victories against Ioannis Papaioannou , Alexander Morosewitsch and Viktor Bologan , in which he failed to Şəhriyar Məmmədyarov . In April 2014 he won the Neckar Open with 8 points from 9 games.

Láznička took the Czech national team at the Chess Olympiads in 2006 , 2008 , 2010 , 2012 , 2014 , 2016 and 2018 and the European Team Championships 2007, 2009, 2011 , 2013, 2015, 2017 and 2019 in part.

In the Czech extra league, Láznička played for ŠK Pardubice from 2002 to 2008 , with whom he became champions in 2005 , 2006 and 2007 , and since 2008 he has played for 1. Novoborský ŠK , with whom he played in 2010 , 2011 , 2012 , 2013 2014 , 2015 , 2016 , 2017 and 2018 champion. At the European Club Cup Láznička took in 2006 with the ŠK Pardubice , in the years 2009 to 2018 the first Novoborský ŠK part. He won with the team in 2013, came second in 2014 and 2018 and third in 2011, and in 2018 he won the individual ranking on the first reserve board.

In the German federal chess league Láznička played in the 2006/07 season for SC Bann am top board, in the 2007/08 season for TSV Bindlach shareholder and in the 2008/09 season for the Sportfreunde Katernberg . From the 2014/15 season to 2017/18 he played at SK Schwäbisch Hall , in the 2018/19 season for BCA Augsburg and in the 2019/20 season for SV Lingen . In the Austrian Bundesliga he played in the 2006/07 season for SK Advisory Invest Baden and in the 2008/09 season for the champions Husek Vienna . In France he played for Mulhouse Philidor in 2010 and for CE de Bois-Colombes in 2017 , and in the British Four Nations Chess League in the 2013/14 season for Wood Green Hilsmark Kingfisher . In Spain, Láznička played for UE Montcada in 2009, for SCC Sabadell in 2010 and for Mérida Patrimonio de la Humanidad in 2016 and 2017 .
