Jaroslav Šajtar

Jaroslav Šajtar (born December 3, 1921 in Ostrava , † February 4, 2003 in Prague ) was a Czechoslovak chess player .

He played for Czechoslovakia in two Chess Olympiads : 1952 and 1954 . He also took part twice in the European team championships (1957 and 1961).

At the Czechoslovak individual championships in 1952 he was second and in 1953 shared third.

He was a student of Jan Foltys .

In 1950 he was awarded the title of International Master (IM), in 1985 the title of Honorary Grand Master (HGM). Since 1955 he was also an international referee . For example, he was the main referee at the 1978, 1984 and 1988 Women's World Championships.
