Jiří Štoček (born May 10, 1977 ) is a Czech chess player .

Life

After studying astronomy, Jiří Štoček has been a chess professional since 2003. He is married to the Slovak chess player Zuzana Hagarová .

successes

At the first U18 European Youth Championship in Chania on Crete in 1994, he was tied for second behind Robert Kempiński . In the same year he won a First Saturday IM-B tournament in Budapest with 9 points from 10 games. In 1997 he won a tournament in Pilsen and in December 2001 a GM tournament in Přerov . In September 2003 he won the Slovak Open Tatry Championship in Tatranske Zruby , in September 2004 he won again the Tatry Open in Tatranske Zruby.

At Czech individual championships he was able to achieve medal positions five times: in 2003 in Luhačovice he was third, in 2004 and 2005, both in Karlovy Vary , he was second. In 2008 in Havlíčkův Brod he was again second. In May 2011 in Pardubice he won the Czech individual championship for the first time.

With the Czech national team he took part in the 2004 , 2008 and 2012 chess Olympiads on the first reserve board. At the European Team Championships in 2003, 2005 and 2011 he played on the fourth board, in 2013 on the reserve board. He also took part in the Mitropa Cup 2005 on the top board.

In Germany he played for SC Bann , first in the 2004/05 season in the 2nd division south, then in the 1st Bundesliga after being promoted in the 2006/07 season , and again in the 2nd division south after being relegated immediately . For the 2011/12 season he moved to SC Garching in the 2nd League East. He also plays in Czech (from 1994 to 1998 and from 1999 to 2006 for Sokol Plzeň , in the 1998/99 season for ŠK Sokol Kolín , in the 2006/07 season for the champions RC Sport Pardubice , from 2007 to 2011 for the Novoborský ŠK , with whom he became Czech team champion in 2008 , 2010 and 2011 and took part in the European Club Cup three times , from 2011 to 2018 for Výstaviště Lysá nad Labem , in the 2018/19 season again for Pardubice and since 2019 for Moravská Slavia Brno ), Slovak (2001 to 2007 for the ŠK Hydina Košice and since 2007 for TJ Slávia Košice , with whom he in 2008 and 2012 the Extraliga won), Greek and Austrian (since 2009 for the SK Lackenbach ) leagues.

He received the title of Chess Grandmaster from FIDE in 1998 .
