action

Buford Turnover is about to die. He is visited by his four adult children: Lurlene, Sara Lee, Orville, who is married to Marlene, and Evalita, who brings her boyfriend Harmony with her. They promise their father that they will be together in harmony, but they argue shortly after their arrival. Sara Lee tries to appease her until Evalita, while drunk, spends a night with Clarence, with whom Sara Lee is in love. She assumes Clarence had sex with her sister, although Clarence denies it.

Orville insults Marlene, who criticizes his excess weight. Evalita publicly exposes her relatives when they are drunk. Harmony and Marlene smoke a joint together. Harmony reveals that he finds Marlene attractive. She refuses to leave her husband with him, but she kisses him.

It turns out that Orville and Lurlene are about to be excluded from inheritance. Sara Lee offers to share her share, but Evalita just wants to keep hers to herself. Marlene quickly packs her things and leaves with Harmony.

In the end, Buford dies and is buried.

Reviews

Hal Hinson wrote in the Washington Post on June 28, 1990 that the film was "a second-rate imitation of Beth Henley . " Its cast would include a number of well-respected actors like Beau Bridges, Beverly D'Angelo and Amy Wright - who would endeavor to make the "flawed" script work.

Cinema magazine wrote that not every gag was right, but that there was “enough to laugh about with these consistently wonderful actors” . The editors' conclusion is: "Seldom has the struggle for inheritance been stranger" .

epd Film judges that the film is “a shrill comedy with vulgar gags on a man's joke level…. American dozen goods, staged without ingenuity, with types instead of characters, with actors waving around hysterically and grimacing forever. A cheap production without a change of scene ... "

backgrounds

The film was in Denton ( Texas turned). It grossed approximately $ 1.37 million in US cinemas .
