David McHugh

David Joseph McHugh (born May 29, 1941 in Brooklyn , New York City ) is an American composer .

Life

David Joseph McHugh grew up in Brooklyn, New York City. After receiving his bachelor's degree in piano from the State University of New York at Fredonia , he graduated with a master's in composition from Queens College, City University of New York . During his time at Fredonia, he won the MENC composition contest two years in a row . Before joining graduate school with George Perle , Henry Weinberg and Leo Kraft , he served in the United States Army for two years . He then lived in Woodstock from 1972 , composing and writing music with which he went on tour. He taught at the " University of North Carolina School of the Arts" before the 2011 Columbia College Chicago moved.

After McHugh had already composed for several theater productions, commercials and television trailers, it was 1981 the comedy Nobody's Perfect , for which he composed a film music for the first time. From 1981 to 1995 he lived in Los Angeles , where he composed for films such as Moscow in New York , Das Traum-Team and Die Erbschleicher . He then moved to North Carolina with his wife and three children , where he took a master's program in composition. In 2011 he moved to Columbia College Chicago in the same position.
