Molly McClure

Molly McClure (born January 19, 1919 in Watsonville , California - † August 15, 2008 in Plano , Texas ) was an American actress .

Life

Molly McClure was born to Neva Hill and William Earnest Karnes. Molly Hill is given as her maiden name. Her mother passed away soon after she was born. She grew up with her uncle and aunt in Paducah , Kentucky . In 1939 she married Rush Delbert McClure and had three consecutive daughters. After the end of her marriage to McClure, which lasted about 10 years, and her divorce, she subsequently raised her daughters alone in Paducah. During those years her interest in theater and acting arose. In her hometown of Paducah, she co-founded the Market House Theater, where she has appeared in numerous local productions.

In 1968 she moved to Los Angeles to be close to her daughters and initially continued to work there as a stage actress. In Los Angeles she was a member of the Actor's Alley Repertory Theater.

She also worked as a supporting actress (so-called character actress) in many television and film productions. Her films include a. Moving - Backward into Chaos (1988), Arthur 2: On the Rocks (1988), City Slickers - Die Großstadt-Helden (1991, as Millie Stone), Mrs. Doubtfire - The prickly nanny (1993; as housekeeper) and The golden ones Jungs (1994; again as Millie Stone).

In the film comedy Die Erbschleicher (1990) she played Mama Wheelis, a role that she also embodied on stage. She took on the role of George Strait's grandmother for the musical western film Pure Country .

She was Victoria Principal's aunt in the 1987 TV movie Lovers on Demand . She was also seen in various television series in episode roles, u. a. in Murder, She Wrote , Quantum Leap , Picket Fences - Tatort garden fence , Northern Exposure and Walker, Texas Ranger .

She died in 2008 at the age of 89 after a short illness in Plano , Texas , where she last lived with one of her daughters.
