The Golden Boys (Alternative title on video: City Slickers 2 ; Alternative title on TV: City Slickers II - The Golden Boys ; Original title: City Slickers II: The Legend of Curly's Gold ) is an American adventure comedy from 1994 and a sequel to The 1991 adventure comedy City Slickers . Directed by Paul Weiland and written by Billy Crystal , Lowell Ganz and Babaloo Mandel .

Mitch Robbins turns 40 and meets his brother Glen, who is considered an outsider in the family. Mitch finds a map drawn by Curly Washburn, who died in the first film, showing the place where his father should have hidden a pot of gold in 1908. Mitch, Glen and Phil Berquist, who also appears in the first film, go in search of the treasure.

The three friends buy horses and food from two men, with Berquist revealing the existence of the map and the treasure. The two men later try to steal the card. They are overwhelmed by Duke Washburn, Curly's twin brother. The treasure hunters find the gold in a cave and are attacked again. It turns out that the map belongs to an adventure game, the robbers are just faking the robbery and the gold is not real.

The two brothers and Berquist travel to Las Vegas , where they stay in a hotel. You are visited by Washburn who says sincerity is the most important thing. Then he reveals that his brother's card was incomplete and puts a piece of gold on the table. The film ends with Washburn and Mitch planning a new treasure hunt and come and get me together .

Reviews

James Berardinelli wrote on ReelViews that the film was a symptom of the sequelitis disease, which consists of producing unnecessary sequels . He disappoints and is not particularly funny; he also collects numerous bad clichés. There is no depth, the characters are caricatures.
