Bill McKinney
William "Bill" McKinney (born September 12, 1931 in Chattanooga , Tennessee , † December 1, 2011 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American actor .
Life
Bill McKinney joined the United States Navy at the age of nineteen and served two years on a mine sweeper during the Korean War . After the end of his military service, he studied acting at the Pasadena Playhouse from 1957 . He then went to Lee Strasberg's Actors Studio . In 1967 he made his feature film debut in the horror film She Freak , after which he received various guest roles in television series such as Charming Jeannie and A Sheriff in New York . In 1972, he was alongside Burt Reynolds , Jon Voight, and Ned Beatty in Everyone's First To Die as an unnamed hillbilly who abuses Bobby and is killed by Lewis. He subsequently played in Sam Peckinpah's Junior Bonner and John Huston's Das Was Roy Bean, among others . In 1974 he was in The Last Bite the Dogs for the first time at the side of Clint Eastwood , followed by six other films together by 1989, including The Texan , The Man Who Never Gives Up and Bronco Billy . He played other roles in The Last Sniper alongside John Wayne , in Rambo alongside Sylvester Stallone and in Against Any Chance alongside Jeff Bridges . He played a small supporting role in the 1999 Stephen King film adaptation of The Green Mile . In addition to his feature film appearances, McKinney has appeared as a guest star in various successful series formats, including Columbo , Starsky & Hutch , Battlestar Galactica , A Colt For All Occasions , The A-Team and The Adventures of Young Indiana Jones .
Bill McKinney died in a Los Angeles hospice at the age of 80.
