Josh Mostel

Joshua Mostel (born December 21, 1946 in New York City , New York ) is an American actor .

Life

Mostel is the son of the film and theater actor Zero Mostel and had his first stage appearances as a boy soprano at the Metropolitan Opera in New York. He attended Brandeis University and made his feature film and Broadway debut in 1971 . After a few supporting roles on the side of Robert Mitchum and Jack Nicholson , he played the role of King Herod in the film adaptation of the musical Jesus Christ Superstar .

In 1979 he played one of the lead roles in the television series Delta House , based on the comedy film I think I'll kick a horse . He played Bluto , who was portrayed in the film by John Belushi . However, the sitcom could not follow the great success of the film and was discontinued after twelve episodes. In the 1980s Mostel played in Woody Allen's Radio Days and Oliver Stones Wall Street, among others . He also had a few guest appearances in television series and played Münz-Matthias in Bert Brecht's Threepenny Opera on Broadway . In the 1990s he starred in two City Slickers films and two comedies with Adam Sandler . Since the late 1990s, he has rarely appeared in film and television.

Mostel is divorced, he has no children.
