I think I'll kick a horse (Original title: National Lampoon 's Animal House ) is an American feature film - comedy directed by John Landis from 1978.

action

The East Coast of the United States, 1962: In the fictional Faber College , freshmen have to look for a suitable student union , as they do every year . The connections are subject to the rector and therefore certain rules, such as a limited number of days on which alcohol may be consumed. The house "Delta Tau Chi" hardly adheres to any of the rules, for them alcohol, sex and wild (toga) parties are part of everyday student life; academic performance, on the other hand, lag significantly behind. The Deltas are also in constant conflict with the elitist and reactionary association of the Omegas, also known as XX , which is close to the rector. When the Omegas succeed, with the help of the Rector, in banning the deltas' fraternity, they take revenge on the mayor, the Rector and the Omegas in the homecoming parade. At the end of the film, the most important characters are presented with their future résumés.

backgrounds

  • Little known in Germany, the film enjoys cult status in the USA , and many scenes are often cited from other productions, for example the Simpsons .
  • Both Kevin Bacon and John Belushi made their screen debuts in this film.
  • Due to the success of the film in the USA, a less successful and therefore rather short-lived (15 episodes) sitcom called Delta House was produced.
  • The film was previously only released in Germany from the age of 18. After a re-examination it is suitable for minors.

Reviews

"The story, intended as a satire on the apolitical college milieu at the beginning of the 1960s, remains on the level of a clothes with its flat jokes ."

Awards
