After a successful year as a business woman, the Munich boutique owner Marianne Neuhaus decides to take a vacation in nature. On the way to Hannes Kleebauer's horse stud in Austria, she meets the likeable blonde Dane Lil, who she takes with her in her carriage. Kleebauer is a handsome, middle-aged, widowed man. He would like to marry again, but his jealous, underage daughter Christl is a raven and has nothing better to do than to scare away any potential marriage candidate as subtly as possible. And so, as expected, Marianne and Lil have a hard time when they arrive at the Kleebauer horse farm. The little one instinctively senses massive competition for the favor and undivided attention of her father. In order to take the wind out of Christl's sails, Marianne promises the nine-year-old that she does not intend to take her father away from her.
But as fate plays out: Hannes and Marianne fall in love. Christl now believes that Marianne had deliberately deceived her and wants to get back at her by running away from home. On the way she gets to know two weird guys of the kind of "stupid little crook" and is able to persuade these two semi-silky characters to play father Hannes about the kidnapping of Christl. Hannes and Marianne are very worried about the girl, but in the end the pen is lost to the two would-be kidnappers and they leave Christl on the spot before they can be arrested. Christl is so angry about the unreliability of the crooks that she then rowed out onto a pond and plopped into the water. Marianne's courageous intervention means that Christl does not drown. With this rescue act, the Munich woman has finally won the heart of Hannes' daughter.

I think I'll kick a horse was created in September and October 1975 in the Austrian Mühlviertel and started in Offenburg on December 18, 1975.
Nino Borghi designed the film structures, Waltraud Freitag the costumes.
The film title is based on a saying by the former Federal Minister of Finance Hans Apel , who made this expression known and popular nationwide in 1975 through an interview with the television journalist Friedrich Nowottny . With "I think a horse is kicking" a person wants to express his greatest possible astonishment.
