Marc Howard "Babaloo" Mandel (born October 13, 1949 in New York City ) is an American screenwriter who became famous primarily through his collaboration with Lowell Ganz .

Life

Marc Howard Mandel was born one of six children to a New York taxi driver. After leaving high school, he moved to Los Angeles , where he made a living doing odd jobs and sketchwriting for some comedy stars, such as Joan Rivers . As a result, he began to work as a screenwriter. After first working for the sitcoms Busting Loose and Laverne & Shirley , he met Lowell Ganz in 1981 , who would later become his longtime writing partner. As early as 1982, Nightshift - Das Leichenhaus freaks out of her first script for a feature film. After they received an Oscar nomination for Best Original Screenplay in 1985 with the comedy Splash - A Virgin on the Hook , they mainly wrote comedies such as City Slickers - The Big City Heroes , A Class of Their Own and, most recently, Tooth Fairy on Probation .

Since 1974 Mandel has been married to Denise Horn, with whom he has six children, including triplets.
