Jan Votava (born November 29, 1974 ) is a Czech chess player .

Life

Votava received the grandmaster title in 1999 . In 1990 he won the U-16 Junior Championship in Czechoslovakia with 10 points from 10 games. For the Czech national team he participated once in 1996 in the Chess Olympiad and twice in the European Championship . Votava won silver at the Czech championship in Olomouc in 1995 and bronze twice (1993, 2007).

Votava won or occupied top places in several tournaments: 1st place in Budapest (1995), I-III place (1995) in Mladá Boleslav , I-IX. 1st place in Oberwart (1997), 1st place in Selfoss (2002), 1st place in Reykjavík (2004), I.-VI. Place in Česká Třebová (2007).

National team

With the Czech national team, Votava took part in the Chess Olympiads in 1996 and 2010 and the European Team Championships in 2001 and 2005.

In the Czech Extra League, Votava played from 1992 to 1994 for TJ Slavia Hradec Králové , where he already played in the Czechoslovak team championship, in the 1994/95 season for SK ZČE Plzeň , from 1995 to 1997 for ŠK Dům armády Prague , with whom he became Czech team champion in 1996 and 1997 and took part in the European Club Cup in 1996, since 1997 he has played (apart from the 2004/05 season in which he played at ŠK Mahrla Prague ) for ŠK Pardubice , with whom he played in 2000 , 2006 and 2007 Czech team champion and twice participated in the European Club Cup. In Germany, Votava played for SC Kreuzberg from 1992 to 1994 and for SK Zehlendorf from 1994 to 1996 in the 2nd Bundesliga, since 1996 he has played for Erfurt SK (until 1998 SV Erfurt-West ), including nine seasons in 1st division. Bundesliga. In Austria, Votava plays for the Mayrhofen / Raika Zell / Zillertal syndicate , including in the 2014/15 season and again since the 2018/19 season in the 1st Bundesliga .
