Rupert Berger (born February 10, 1896 in Traunstein ; † February 9, 1958 there ) was a German politician ( BVP / CSU ). From 1946 until his death he was a member of the Bavarian state parliament .

Life

Rupert Berger attended the secondary school in Traunstein and was a founding member of the Bavarian People's Party. During the First World War he was a soldier in the Imperial Navy . He was head of the Bayernwacht in Chiemgau and was briefly interned in Dachau concentration camp in 1933 and then released without notice. After his release, Berger worked as an innkeeper in Regensburg and Landshut. During the Second World War he was again a soldier in the Navy . After the war he was a founding member of the CSU.

His son Rupert , born in 1926 and died in 2020, was a professor of liturgical science and pastoral theology.

After the war, Berger was a member of the Bavarian State Constitutional Assembly in 1946 and was elected to the first Bavarian state parliament shortly afterwards, and from 1946 to 1952 he was Lord Mayor of the city of Traunstein. In the first electoral term he was a full member of the Committee on Refugees and the Committee on Wages. He was also a member of the Transport Committee and the Committee of Inquiry into Vehicle Seizures. In the state elections in 1954, Berger was re-elected and was a full member of the committee for matters relating to displaced persons and victims of war, in the committee for issues relating to civil service law and salaries, and the committee for business and transport. Berger died during the second legislative term. For him the MP Hans Merkt moved up in the state parliament.
