Cytel is a clinical trial service provider and manufacturer of statistical and biotechnology software based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA.

Cytel was founded in 1987 by Cyrus Mehta and Nitin Patel, members of the American Statistical Association .

Cytel provides services related to clinical trials. This initially comprised contract research and the creation of study designs, now increasingly the development of software , statistical evaluations of studies and training courses.

The software includes adaptive designs of studies, software for data monitoring committees and for subject selection. Cytel's products are used by the Food and Drug Administration . Specifically, these are East (study design simulation and selection), Compass (study design and determination of suitable doses in adaptive designs), StatXact ( inference statistics and power analysis ), LogXact (various regression analysis methods ).

Product development takes place in Pune (India).
