Chernivtsi Philharmonic

The Chernivtsi Philharmonic ( Ukrainian Чернівецька обласна філармонія / Chernivetska Oblasna Filarmonija ) is one of the state philharmonic orchestras in the city of Chernivtsi , Ukraine .

The building of the Philharmonic was built between 1876 and 1877 as a concert hall of the Ukrainian Music Society with the help of private donations. Today it is a listed building. In 1940, the newly founded Chernivtsi Oblast Philharmonic was housed in this building . The hall for organ and chamber music was opened on August 18, 1992, on the occasion of Ukraine's independence celebrations, in the Armenian Church.

Among the most prominent artists that have occurred throughout history in the Chernivtsi Philharmonic Hall, including Enrico Caruso , Sidi Valley , Salomea Krusceniski , Mykola Lysenko and Fyodor Chaliapin .
