Demon Quadrille

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The demon quadrille is a quadrille by Johann Strauss Sohn (op.19). It was first performed on October 15, 1845 in Dommayers Casino in Vienna.

Remarks

The Quadrille was composed to celebrate the first anniversary of the debut of Johann Strauss (son) as dance conductor and was premiered on this occasion. This is a relatively difficult and demanding work. It is not known what prompted the composer to choose this composition and to give it a name. Maybe he wanted to show his audience that he could do more than just compose waltzes and polkas.

The playing time on the CD listed under individual records is 3 minutes and 4 seconds. This time can vary somewhat depending on the conductor's musical conception.
