Dätwyler Cabling Solutions AG was a division of Dätwyler Holding AG until December 31, 2012 and in 2013 became the property of Pema Holding AG. The company operates on the market as a provider of products, system solutions and services for electrical and communications building infrastructure, for data centers and for fiber-to-the-home networks ( FTTH ). The focus is on the application areas IT and communication networks (ITK / ICT), security cable systems and lift cabling. The company, with headquarters in Altdorf (Canton Uri, Switzerland) and seven international branches, generated sales of around 235 million euros in 2014 with just under 1,000 employees.
history
Adolf Dätwyler founded the company in 1915 and began manufacturing electrical conductors using aluminum. In 1926 telephone cables were included in production, and high-frequency cables were first manufactured in 1944. In 1973 the company took over Kaved AG, developed a process to extend the value chain through cable assembly and manufactured the first flat lift cable for a shaft height of up to 400 meters. In 1986 the production of fiber optic cables started , one year later the company introduced the copper data cable uninet (today Datwyler CU ) and developed the concept of structured building cabling. In 1991, the pyrofil safety cable was the first cable in the world to be successfully tested for functional integrity E90 according to DIN 4102-12. In 2002 the company launched the optofil Safety cable (now Datwyler FO Universal Safety ), the first metal-free fiber optic cable with E30 function maintenance based on DIN 4102-12. In 2005, the company developed FloorLink, an economical wiring system for lift shafts .
The customer base ranges from banks and insurance companies, government agencies, industrial and telecommunications companies to airport operators and general contractors.
After 2004, the company developed in all product and application areas from a classic cable manufacturer to a system solution provider and, since 2010, to a provider of total solutions, including for multisite projects and with turnkey responsibility. Since then, it has also acted as part and general contractor on the market.
From April 2011 - following a re-branding of Datwyler Holding at the end of March 2011, which all companies in the group joined - until October 2012, the company appeared worldwide under the name Datwyler with the addition of Cabling Solutions . On November 1, 2012 - following the restructuring of the holding and the resolved sale of the Cabling Solutions division to Pema Holding on December 31, 2012 - Datwyler Cabling Solutions AG was founded . The new AG has been owned by Pema Holding since 2013 as an independent sister company of the listed Dätwyler Holding. The name Datwyler Cables has remained and will remain the company name of individual branches.
Products / areas of application
Based on the in-house development and production of copper and fiber optic cables as well as system components coordinated with them, the company today offers complete solutions for electrical and communications building infrastructure in all product areas, including consulting, training and certification, assembly, installation, logistics, Maintenance and warranty services. The spectrum includes solutions for functional buildings, i.e. office, government and industrial buildings, residential buildings, data centers, telecom carriers, sports stadiums, exhibition centers, train stations, tunnels, airports, shopping centers, hotels and hospitals.
Information and communicationtechnology
The Datwyler CU portfolio (formerly unilan ) includes shielded and unshielded copper system solutions for stable, standard-compliant cabling of classes E, EA, F and FA, with which data up to 10 gigabits per second (10 gigabit Ethernet), voice (voice over IP), video as well as control and remote power supply (Power over Ethernet, PoE). In 2013, Datwyler developed the world's first copper data cables especially for server connections in data centers, which meet all the requirements of Category 8.2 and enable transmissions at 40 gigabits per second. Wireless solutions (WLAN) and - with the catTV system - also solutions for the integration of high-frequency multimedia signals (CATV) are also available. The range of fiber optic systems includes cables with single and multimode fibers (up to OM4), pre-assembled multi-fiber (trunk) cables and system solutions for LANs, server rooms and data centers as well as special systems for outdoor applications and carrier networks.
safety
With its Fire Safety cabling solutions (formerly pyrosys ), the company offers complete systems including support, fastening and connection components that have been tested for functional integrity in accordance with DIN 4102-12 (E30-E90). These ensure that electrical systems are still supplied with power for at least a defined period of time, even in the event of a fire. The company has been producing the cable program with functional integrity for many years on the basis of a patented Keram technology. The ceramic-insulated products are being further developed in terms of materials and processes.
Building automation
This offer is based on a flat cable system (formerly ecobus ) for energy distribution and control / building automation, in which electrical and bus lines are combined with one another, as well as prefabricated columns and floor tanks. The flat cable system is halogen-free and available up to protection class IP65. Compared to conventional installations with many individual cables, the cost of materials and the space required for laying are low when using this system. In addition, additional outlets can be created at any time or existing ones can be removed and replaced at another point on the flat cable.
lift
The company also offers lift cables, system solutions and services for the electrical installation of elevators. In addition to power lines, data cables, such as integrated fiber optics, are also available for use in elevators. These system solutions connect the lift cabin to both the control system and the local data network. The range of offers also includes assembly and logistics services with modern B2B connections.
