d'Lëtzebuerger Land

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

d'Lëtzebuerger Land is an independent Luxembourg weekly newspaper for politics, economy and culture, which has been published since January 1, 1954.

The newspaper is published by the Éditions d'Lëtzeburger Land s.à rl , which is wholly owned by the non-profit foundation Fondation d'Lëtzeburger Land . The Board of Directors includes Cynthia Kinsch, Stephan Kinsch, Bob Kneip, Caroline Mart, Sam Reckinger, Judith Reicherzer and, as President, Michel Wurth. The managing director is Romain Hilgert.

The founder of the newspaper Carlo Hemmer (1913–1988) had a doctorate in economics. With the country he wanted to create a counterweight in the press landscape in Luxembourg, where every newspaper is strongly committed to a certain political direction, and above all to reach those readers who do not belong to a party, church or trade union. The further history of the newspaper was shaped in particular by Léo Kinsch . He took over as editor-in-chief in 1958 and held this position until his death in 1983. The current editor-in-chief is Romain Hilgert .

In 1999 the title of the newspaper (previously d'Lëtzeburger Land ) was adapted to the new Luxembourg spelling. As usual in the Luxembourg press , d'Lëtzebuerger Land appears in several languages. The newspaper is printed in the Imprimerie Centrale in Luxembourg City .
