D'Maus Ketti (also D'Maus Kätti ) is the most famous work of the Luxembourgish writer Auguste Liesch . The story, told in verse, is based on a fable by the famous Greek poet Aesop about the city mouse and field mouse and was published in 1936.

The history

Ketti, the field mouse, was living in simple circumstances in a field in Burmerange (Boermereng) when she was visited one day by her rich cousin Mim from Clausen . Ketti prepares a hearty meal for her cousin; But she is disappointed with the simple cuisine and begins to rave about delicious dishes. Mim invites Ketti to accompany her to Luxembourg. In the city, the two sneak into a house and attack a fully covered table.

Suddenly the cat Tunn appears with his girlfriend; they try to catch the two mice. These can escape at the last moment. Ketti, the field mouse, is scared to death and decides to return to her home in Burmerange immediately. She prefers to lead a simple life with simple food, rather than to live in abundance but in daily fear.
