The DAS Legal AG is an independent legal services provider in Austria specializing in legal protection for individuals and businesses. With a market share of around 14 percent, DAS is the largest special legal protection insurer in Austria and takes second place among all insurers in the legal protection category.
DAS Rechtsschutz AG is headquartered in Vienna . The company subjects itself to an annual Standard & Poor’s rating. In 2016 it was given an “A” and a stable outlook for the seventh time in a row.
history
The year of birth of the legal protection and the DAS is dated 1917. That year the first “DAS La Défense Automobile et Sportive” was created in Le Mans, France.
In 1956, DAS was founded in Vienna as the first Austrian legal protection insurance company and celebrates its 60th anniversary in 2016.

The DAS headquarters are in Vienna. There are also DAS offices in all federal states of Austria.
DAS Rechtsschutz AG acts as the parent company of DAS Slovakia (since 2013) and DAS Czech Republic (since 2014).
DAS Rechtsschutz AG is part of the international DAS organization. Today it is represented in 18 European countries as well as in South Korea and Canada. 11 million customers currently enjoy legal protection with DAS.
In 2009, DAS Rechtsschutz AG took on reinsurance for its Korean sister company in addition to its reinsurance for DAS companies in CEE.
The international DAS organization is part of the ERGO insurance group .

The service portfolio includes legal protection solutions for individuals and companies.
In the private sector these are:
- Basic legal protection (damage compensation legal protection, criminal legal protection, driver legal protection, social security and social security legal protection, failure insurance for claims arising from physical injuries determined in court, data legal protection, tax legal protection for the private sector, travel service insurance in Germany and abroad)

Legal protection for legal advice is available either from legal employees of DAS or from partner lawyers. Legal advice can be accessed via the telephone legal information, online, in writing or in person in the regional DAS offices and from lawyers. The DAS lawyer network comprises around 500 lawyers across Austria.
DAS sponsorship award
Since 2006, DAS has been encouraging young lawyers every year to deal with the subject of “legal protection”. The basic idea is that the treatment of current legal issues promotes the further development of needs-based legal protection offers. The sponsorship award is currently (2016) endowed with 3000 euros.
