The 746.0 series includes track work vehicles from DB Netz . As a railway service vehicle , it is used for roadway inspection and maintenance as well as for vegetation care .
history
The construction phase was ended with a design freeze in May 2017. The first of 28 vehicles (746 001) was completed in December 2017 and registered in April 2018. It was handed over to Deutsche Bahn on April 27, and it was baptized with the name Hummel . An eight-week trial run with training for the train drivers and the Duisburg workshop is then planned in order to achieve commissioning in July 2018.
Intended use
For the inspection and maintenance of the tracks, rails up to 20 meters and superstructure materials up to 13 meters in length as well as tools can be transported on the vehicle. The vehicles are equipped with a crane and, in some cases, a work basket. A sleeper compartment gripper enables individual sleepers to be changed .
Furthermore, a use for vegetation control and removal is planned. For this purpose, attachments such as mulchers , branch and hedge trimmers or wood grabs can be mounted on the vehicle.
The vehicles are prepared for ETCS and light snow removal technology.
