Plasser & Theurer is an Austrian company with headquarters in Vienna and is the world market leader for track construction machines . The main factory is in Linz , the company employs over 3000 people worldwide and delivers its products to over 100 countries.

history

In 1953, Plasser & Theurer developed the world's first hydraulic tamping machine with a workforce of nine people , thus taking the first step towards the mechanization of track construction. In 1958 and 1959 subsidiaries were founded in Canada and South Africa, and in 1960 the subsidiary Deutsche Plasser Bahnbaumaschinen GmbH ; Brazil and Japan followed in 1971. By 2019, the company had delivered 16,500 track construction and other railway-specific machines in 109 countries worldwide.

The route for the record run of a TGV train of the SNCF at 380 km / h on February 26, 1981 was built with Plasser & Theurer track construction machines and prepared for the test run, as well as for the next one on May 18, 1990 with 515, 3 km / h.

In 2001 the company was restructured.

Product range

The company only manufactures track laying machines. In addition to the classic tamping machines, ballast distributing and leveling machines, track stabilizers, ballast cleaning machines , machines for track construction and conversion and switch construction and conversion, machines for mobile rail processing (welding and grinding) and various special machines are produced.

Awards

For the development of the hybrid universal tamping machine of the Unimat 09-32 / 4S Dynamic E³ type, Plasser & Theurer was awarded the innovation prize from Privatbahn Magazin in 2016/2017 .
